Wisła Kraków Coach Jop Responds to First Defeat: “We Have a Lot of Work Ahead”
Kraków, Poland – August 31, 2025
Wisła Kraków’s unbeaten run in the Betclic I Liga came to an abrupt halt this week, as the team fell 2–0 to Miedź Legnica in the eighth round of the season. The loss marks the club’s first setback after a string of impressive performances that had propelled them to the top of the league table.
Head coach Mariusz Jop addressed the defeat with measured resolve, stating, “Przed nami dużo pracy” — “We have a lot of work ahead.” His comment reflects a shift in tone from earlier in the season, when he had praised the squad’s cohesion and tactical discipline.
“We knew this moment could come,” Jop added. “It’s a reminder that consistency is built not just on victories, but on how we respond to challenges.”
Despite the loss, Wisła Kraków remains in first place with 18 points from seven matches. The team will look to regroup ahead of their upcoming clash with Wieczysta Kraków on September 6, where fans hope to see a return to form.
With several players recently called up to Poland’s U-21 national team and new signings like Marko Božić joining the squad, the club’s long-term prospects remain promising. But for now, Jop’s message is clear: the hard work continues.
