Transfer Buzz: Zeno Van Den Bosch Tipped to Replace Itakura at Gladbach
Borussia Mönchengladbach are reportedly setting their sights on Zeno Van Den Bosch, the promising 22-year-old Belgian center-back from Royal Antwerp, as a potential successor to Ko Itakura, who recently completed a move to Ajax for a fee that could rise to €12 million.
Van Den Bosch, a Belgium U21 international, has emerged as a top candidate to fill the defensive void left by Itakura. With just one year remaining on his contract, Antwerp may be open to negotiations, despite the player’s estimated market value of €10 million. Talks are already underway, and reports suggest Van Den Bosch has agreed to personal terms with Gladbach, with a deal potentially running through 2030.
Gladbach sporting director Roland Virkus confirmed the club is actively exploring options: “We can react at any time if a door opens. The transfer market has been slow this year, but we’re keeping our eyes open”.
Van Den Bosch made 46 appearances last season and has been praised for his anticipation and composure under pressure. If the deal goes through, it could mark a significant step in his career—and a strategic move for Gladbach as they rebuild their backline.
