Recruiting Update: Caden Ramsey Nearing Commitment Decision
CROSS, S.C. — August 17, 2025
South Carolina football may be on the verge of landing another key piece to its 2026 recruiting class, as three-star tight end Caden Ramsey inches closer to announcing his college decision.
Ramsey, a standout at Cross High School, has been one of the most sought-after tight ends in the Southeast. Known for his physicality, soft hands, and ability to stretch the field, the 6-foot-4, 235-pound prospect has drawn interest from several Power Five programs. But in recent weeks, the Gamecocks have surged to the front of the pack.
Sources close to the recruitment say Ramsey has developed a strong rapport with head coach Shane Beamer and tight ends coach Shawn Elliott. The coaching duo has made Ramsey a priority, emphasizing his fit in South Carolina’s evolving offensive scheme and the opportunity for early playing time.
“Coach Beamer and Coach Elliott have been real with me from the start,” Ramsey said in a recent interview. “They see me as a big part of what they’re building, and that means a lot.”
Ramsey visited Columbia earlier this summer and was reportedly impressed by the facilities, the energy around the program, and the family atmosphere within the team. He’s expected to make his final decision before the end of August, with South Carolina, NC State, and Virginia Tech among the finalists.
If the Gamecocks secure Ramsey’s commitment, it would mark another win on the recruiting trail for Beamer, who continues to build momentum heading into the fall season.
Stay tuned for updates as Ramsey’s decision approaches.
