Nikola Jokic’s Brother Sentenced to Probation After Viral Arena Altercation

Strahinja Jokic, the 43-year-old brother of Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic, pleaded guilty Friday to misdemeanor trespassing and disorderly conduct stemming from a widely circulated altercation at Ball Arena in 2024. The Denver District Attorney’s Office confirmed he received a one-year probation sentence.

The incident occurred during an April 2024 Nuggets-Lakers game, when a video surfaced showing Strahinja allegedly punching Lakers fan Nicholas Meyer courtside. Meyer later filed a lawsuit, claiming he sustained a concussion, facial injuries, and a deviated septum.

Initially charged with third-degree assault in July 2024, Strahinja maintained he acted in defense of an elderly acquaintance.

This wasn’t his first legal issue in Denver. In 2019, he faced assault allegations for reportedly choking and pushing a woman and preventing her from calling 911. He ultimately pleaded guilty to obstructing phone service (a misdemeanor) and felony trespassing under a deferred sentence agreement. That felony charge was dismissed in 2022 after he completed probation without further incidents, though the misdemeanor conviction remains. Additional charges of assault and false imprisonment were dropped as part of that plea deal.
