Monsef Bakrar: Ferencváros Makes Direct Contact in Pursuit of Algerian Striker

Budapest, August 20, 2025 — Hungarian champions Ferencváros TC have reportedly made direct contact with Algerian forward Monsef Bakrar, signaling serious intent to bolster their attacking options ahead of the UEFA Europa Conference League campaign.

According to sources close to the negotiations, Ferencváros initiated discussions with Bakrar’s representatives earlier this week. The 24-year-old striker, currently playing for FC Cartagena in Spain’s Segunda División, has drawn interest from multiple European clubs following a standout season in which he netted 14 goals and provided 6 assists.

Bakrar, known for his pace, technical flair, and clinical finishing, fits the profile Ferencváros manager Dejan Stanković is said to be targeting: a dynamic forward capable of leading the line and stretching defenses. With the club aiming to reclaim domestic dominance and make a deeper run in Europe, the addition of Bakrar could prove pivotal.

While no official bid has been confirmed, insiders suggest that Ferencváros is prepared to offer a multi-year deal and a competitive salary package. FC Cartagena, meanwhile, is reportedly holding out for a fee in the region of €3 million.

Bakrar, who has earned caps for Algeria’s senior national team, is believed to be open to a move that would guarantee regular playing time and European exposure. His potential arrival would add depth to a Ferencváros squad already strengthened by recent signings such as Gadi Kanichowsky and Naby Keïta.

Negotiations are ongoing, and fans will be watching closely as the transfer window enters its final stretch.
