Leverkusen Coach Offers Encouraging Update on Nathan Tella Ahead of Gladbach Showdown….

Bayer Leverkusen head coach Kasper Hjulmand has delivered a promising fitness update on winger Nathan Tella ahead of the club’s upcoming Bundesliga clash with Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Tella was sidelined for Leverkusen’s UEFA Champions League opener against FC Copenhagen, having sustained a minor knee injury during the 3–1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on September 12. Despite missing the European fixture, Hjulmand downplayed concerns, describing the issue as short-term.

Speaking at Friday’s press conference, the Danish tactician hinted that Tella is nearing a return to full fitness. “We’re optimistic that he’ll be okay,” Hjulmand told reporters, as relayed by Liga Insider. A final decision on the Nigerian international’s availability will be made following Saturday’s training session.

Tella had made a strong start to the season before his injury setback, registering consecutive assists in Bundesliga play and featuring prominently in Leverkusen’s attacking setup. His potential return would be a timely boost for Die Werkself, who have relied on his pace and creativity in the final third.

The former Arsenal academy product was recently included in Nigeria’s provisional squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa, though he ultimately missed out on the final selection.
