Denver Nuggets Expand Coaching Staff with Key Appointments

The Denver Nuggets have officially named Jared Dudley as lead assistant coach under head coach David Adelman, confirming a move that had been anticipated since early July. Dudley, who chose Denver over offers from Memphis and Cleveland, brings four years of coaching experience from his tenure with the Dallas Mavericks, following a 14-year NBA playing career.

Joining him is fellow former NBA guard J.J. Barea, who will serve as an assistant coach. Barea previously worked in player development for the Mavericks during the 2021–22 season and most recently coached the Guaynabo Mets in Puerto Rico before his departure in May.

Mike Moser also joins the Nuggets’ bench after two seasons as an assistant with the Houston Rockets and a prior stint as a player enhancement coach with the Boston Celtics. His résumé includes coaching roles with the Mavericks, the University of Oregon women’s team, and international experience in Lithuania, Israel, Kosovo, Qatar, Finland, and France.

Chase Buford has been added to the staff following a season as an assistant at the University of Kansas. Buford previously led the Sydney Kings to two NBL championships in Australia and coached in the NBA G League with the Wisconsin Herd.

Rodney Billups, brother of Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups, joins Denver after scouting for the Brooklyn Nets last season. His background includes three years as an assistant in Portland and a scouting role with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Additionally, the Nuggets announced internal promotions and hires: Andrew Munson steps up as assistant coach, while Ben Potts takes on the role of head video coordinator and player development coach.
