Cubana Chief Priest Arraigned for Abuse of Naira

The owner of a nightclub, Okechukwu Paschal, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, has shown up for his trial at the Federal High Court in Lagos.

Cubana Chiest Priest was charged with naira abuse by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC of abuse.

On Wednesday, at approximately 8:45 a.m., EFCC agents escorting him to court were armed.

The social media star was charged with three counts by the EFCC on Tuesday.

A copy of the document that Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, the prosecutor for the EFFC, and seven other attorneys defending the chairman of the Commission filed on April 4th, stated as follows:

“That on February 13, 2024, at the Eko Hotel, within the court’s jurisdiction, you, Okechukwu Pascal, committed an offense punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007 by tampering with funds in the denomination of N500 (Five Hundred Naira) issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria while dancing during a social event.”

“That at some point in 2020, at a social gathering in Lagos, you Okechukwu Pascal tampered with money that was issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria in the amount of N500 (Five Hundred Naira) by spraying it for two hours. As a result, you committed an offense that is punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.”

“That at some point in 2020, at a social gathering in Lagos, you Okechukwu Pascal tampered with money that was issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria in the amount of N500 (Five Hundred Naira) by spraying it for two hours. As a result, you committed an offense that is punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.”

“That at some point in January 2024, in Lagos, at a social gathering, you Okechukwu Pascal tampered with money that was issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria in the amount of N500 (Five Hundred Naira) by spraying it, and as a result, you committed an offense that is punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act 2007.”
