Brian Kelly Rallies LSU Faithful Ahead of SEC Clash with Florida

Baton Rouge, LA — September 8, 2025
As LSU gears up for its pivotal SEC opener against Florida, head coach Brian Kelly has issued a passionate call to arms for Tiger fans, urging them to transform Tiger Stadium into the fearsome fortress known as “Death Valley.”

“We need to be Death Valley,” Kelly declared during Monday’s press conference. “We need to live up to our resume as the most difficult place to play in the country. It’s SEC time. You had your warm-up tailgates… Now, let’s go get it”.

The Tigers, currently 2–0, are coming off a 23–7 win over Louisiana Tech—a performance Kelly described as far from elite. Despite quarterback Garrett Nussmeier’s 237-yard outing and a rushing score from Caden Durham, Kelly emphasized the need for sharper execution across the board.

Meanwhile, Florida enters the matchup reeling from a stunning 18–16 home loss to South Florida. The Gators committed 11 penalties and surrendered a game-winning 87-yard drive, fueling speculation about head coach Billy Napier’s job security. Kelly, however, staunchly defended his SEC counterpart, calling the “hot seat” talk “craziness” and praising Napier’s efforts to build a culture in Gainesville.

Saturday’s showdown, set for a 7:30 PM ET kickoff under the lights in Baton Rouge, carries high stakes for both programs. LSU aims to assert its dominance early in conference play, while Florida looks to rebound and silence critics.

Kelly’s message to fans was clear: bring the noise, wear gold, and make Tiger Stadium a nightmare for the visiting Gators. “You had your warm-up. Now, let’s geaux get it”.
