Virginia Tech Wide Receiver Da’Quan Felton Declares for NFL Draft
Da’Quan Felton, a standout wide receiver for Virginia Tech, announced Tuesday night that he is entering the NFL Draft.
Felton joined the Hokies two years ago as one of three wide receivers brought in through the transfer portal by head coach Brent Pry, alongside Ali Jennings and Jaylin Lane. Over the past two seasons, Felton and Lane played significant roles in the Hokies’ offense, while Jennings showed potential but struggled with injuries.
Felton, who transferred from Norfolk State, emerged as a reliable target for quarterbacks Kyron Drones, Collin Schlee, and Pop Watson during his two seasons in Blacksburg. On Tuesday, he officially declared his intention to turn professional.
Declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft
After a quiet NFL Draft season last year for Virginia Tech, Felton’s announcement adds excitement for the upcoming draft in April, set to take place in Green Bay. Despite the Hokies finishing with a 6-6 record for the second straight year, Felton’s decision to declare signals his aspirations to make an impact at the next level. He shared the news on Instagram, confirming his plans to enter the 2025 NFL Draft.
Felton’s participation in the upcoming Duke’s Mayo Bowl on January 3 against Minnesota remains uncertain, but he has been invited to the Senior Bowl next month, which could further showcase his talent to NFL scouts.
Season Performance and Career Highlights
This season, Felton recorded 32 receptions for 360 yards and two touchdowns, a decline compared to his standout 2022 campaign when he tallied 38 receptions for 667 yards and eight touchdowns. Notable moments from his Virginia Tech career include an 84-yard touchdown reception in the season finale against Virginia last year, which helped the Hokies secure bowl eligibility. This season, he contributed a 42-yard catch against Virginia and a 55-yard touchdown in a dominant win over Stanford in October.
As Felton transitions to the next phase of his football career, his blend of experience and playmaking ability will undoubtedly draw attention from NFL teams.
