Nuggets Appoint Ben Tenzer as Interim GM
Speaking to the media, Denver Nuggets vice chairman Josh Kroenke announced that Ben Tenzer, the team’s vice president of basketball operations, has been appointed interim general manager (via Twitter).
Tenzer began his journey with the Nuggets as a minor league coordinator from 2005 to 2009, then returned as a legal extern in 2012. He officially joined the organization in 2013 as director of team operations and has steadily climbed the ranks since.
This past season, Tenzer also served as GM of the Nuggets’ G League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Gold, while maintaining his role as VP of basketball operations. According to Bennett Durando of The Denver Post, Tenzer is regarded as an expert on the NBA salary cap.
A recent report stated that Josh Kroenke will oversee basketball operations, supported by Tenzer and assistant GM Tommy Balcetis, until a permanent replacement is found for former GM Calvin Booth.
Although Kroenke will have the final say on key decisions, Tenzer is expected to manage the day-to-day general manager responsibilities in the interim. With no player transactions allowed during the playoffs, major roster decisions won’t arise until the offseason. Durando also confirmed a full GM search will commence once the Nuggets’ playoff run ends.
