Carmelo Anthony’s Perfect Response to Nuggets Retiring No. 15 for Him or Nikola Jokić…

Carmelo Anthony, a newly inducted member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, weighed in on the debate about whose No. 15 jersey should be retired by the Denver Nuggets—his or Nikola Jokić’s.

Anthony, a 10-time All-Star and the NBA’s ninth all-time leading scorer, was a beloved figure in Denver during his tenure from 2003 to 2011. His No. 15 jersey was iconic in the early 2000s. However, after his departure, the number was reissued to Jokić, who has since built an incredible legacy, including three MVP awards and an NBA championship in 2023.

When ESPN posed the question on Instagram about which No. 15 should be honored in the rafters, Anthony offered a straightforward and candid response:

“F— it, put both up lol,” he wrote.

He went on to emphasize that there should be no comparisons, only mutual respect. “Two different types of players. No comparisons, only respect. Put his number up there. It should never be a comparison. We don’t even have the same play style. I had my time and era, he had his.”

A classy and thoughtful take from the soon-to-be Hall of Famer.

With Jokić still in the prime of his career, the Nuggets likely won’t have to make a decision anytime soon. Time will tell how this jersey debate unfolds.
