Gerwyn Price continued his dominance over Luke Littler with a commanding victory in the Premier League Darts night in Nottingham, sealing his sixth consecutive win over the teenage sensation. But it wasn’t just his performance on the oche that grabbed attention his cheeky post-match jab had Sky Sports presenter Emma Paton and pundit Wayne Mardle in fits of laughter.
Littler, known for his explosive talent, came out swinging with three-figure averages in his quarter-final win over Luke Humphries and semi-final triumph against Rob Cross. However, despite once again outscoring Price, he couldn’t convert his performance into a win, falling 6-3 to ‘The Iceman,’ who capitalized on his opportunities.
Reflecting on his victory, Price couldn’t resist poking fun at Littler’s pre-game routine. “You don’t even know he’s there in the practice room,” Price quipped. “He’s quiet, just sits on his phone, probably doesn’t practice until 20 minutes before playing. But when he knows he’s facing me, he gets up a little earlier he was warming up for an hour before our game!”
Despite his winning streak over Littler, Price had nothing but praise for the 18-year-old, predicting that he would rewrite the history books. “Luke is the best player in the world right now, and he’s going to dominate for years,” Price admitted. “I honestly believe he’ll break Phil Taylor’s record of 16 world titles. No one in the PDC can stop him only the Junior Darts Corporation players might have a chance!”
With this latest triumph, Price moves up to third in the Premier League standings, trailing Humphries by three points and table leader Littler by four. Meanwhile, Michael van Gerwen holds onto the final playoff spot as the competition heats up.
