Braves Receive Encouraging Injury Updates on Ronald Acuña Jr. and Spencer Strider
As the Atlanta Braves gear up for Opening Day, a few key players will be absent from the field. Fans have been anxiously awaiting the return of superstar outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. and ace pitcher Spencer Strider, both sidelined due to significant injuries. While they were initially expected to miss at least the first month of the 2025 season, their recoveries have been progressing remarkably well.
Possible Early Returns for Acuña and Strider
Originally, Strider was projected to return sometime in May, while Acuña was targeting a comeback in the latter half of the same month. However, recent reports suggest both could be back sooner than expected.
MLB insider Mark Feinsand revealed that Acuña might make his highly anticipated return in the first half of May rather than the second. This would be a massive boost for the Braves, adding even more firepower to an already dangerous lineup. Having suffered a second ACL injury, Acuña has taken this rehab process seriously and appears to be on track for a strong return.
Manager Brian Snitker’s Excitement
Manager Brian Snitker is thrilled about getting two of his biggest stars back. He likened their return to making blockbuster trades without actually making trades. “We’re going to make two really good trades here early in the year,” Snitker said. “We’re getting an MVP and a potential Cy Young winner back. Their presence is going to mean more than anyone can imagine.”
Feinsand also noted that Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos is keeping the exact timeline under wraps. However, sources suggest Strider could rejoin the rotation as early as late April, with Acuña’s return likely falling between early and mid-May.
No Restrictions Upon Return
Before officially rejoining the team, Strider will need a 30-day Minor League rehab stint, while Acuña has yet to be cleared for game action and will also require some time in the minors. Despite this, Snitker emphasized that once they return, there will be no limitations. “We’re not going to protect them; they’re going to be ready to go,” he stated.
With the Braves setting their sights on another World Series run, the return of Acuña and Strider couldn’t come at a better time. If both stars stay healthy, their impact could be game-changing for Atlanta’s championship aspirations.
