JUST IN: Eagles’ Super Bowl Hero Darius Slay Eyes Triumphant Return to Detroit Lions for Final NFL Season.

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Darius Slay Jr. is nearing the final year of his three-year, $42 million contract signed in 2023. While he fully expects to remain in Philadelphia, he understands the unpredictable nature of the NFL. With the Eagles possibly looking to clear cap space and prioritize younger talent, Slay acknowledges that his future with the team isn’t guaranteed.

And if he does hit the open market, he already has a preferred destination in mind.

Speaking on the St. Brown Podcast with Amon-Ra and Equanimeous St. Brown, Slay, 35, addressed his situation candidly. “I got one more year left on the deal,” he said. “But you know how that works. Hopefully, I can re-sign, but if not, I still want to play at least one more year.”

When asked about Detroit, where he spent the first seven seasons of his career, Slay didn’t hesitate. “Oh, I love Detroit. That’s my second home. I still do a lot for the city to this day.” He reflected on training young players there, many of whom are now in the league, and expressed a deep connection to the city.

Sensing an opportunity, Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown jumped in: “So it sounds like you don’t mind coming back.” Slay laughed but kept it real while Philly remains his top choice, a Detroit reunion would be a welcome alternative.

“If it happens, it happens. If not, it doesn’t,” he said. “Philly and Detroit those are the two places I’d love to be.”
