Details have emerged regarding Nick Sheridan’s role on Alabama’s 2025 coaching staff, following some uncertainty after the hiring of Ryan Grubb as offensive coordinator earlier this month.
According to Bama247’s Alex Scarborough, Sheridan, whose position was in question after Grubb’s arrival, will continue coaching quarterbacks next season, a role he took on in his first year with the program last fall.
A former quarterback for Michigan, Sheridan has previous connections to both Grubb and Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer. He first worked with DeBoer at Indiana when he was serving as the Hoosiers’ tight ends coach, a position he was initially set to take on at Alabama before Grubb’s arrival.
However, when Grubb chose to leave for the Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator role, Sheridan and JaMarcus Shephard took on co-offensive coordinator responsibilities. Sheridan continued with quarterbacks, while Shephard coached wide receivers.
In January, Grubb’s departure from Seattle was made official, and he rejoined DeBoer at Alabama, with the move confirmed on February 6. Reports from ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg had earlier suggested that both Sheridan and Shephard would remain on the coaching staff.
Sheridan, Shephard, and Grubb all followed DeBoer from Washington to Alabama before Grubb’s Seattle exit. Sheridan has also helped develop top quarterbacks like Alabama’s Jalen Milroe and Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. during his time at Indiana and Washington.
Interestingly, Sheridan stayed in Bloomington when DeBoer moved to Fresno State in 2020. However, after a tough 2021 season, Indiana head coach Tom Allen decided to part ways with him.
