Tennessee Volunteers fans were eagerly anticipating the 2024 season following a strong 9-4 performance last year. However, the team’s unveiling of new uniforms didn’t quite hit the mark with many supporters.
The introduction of the “Smokey Grey” attire, first seen in 2013, featured a Tennessee state logo adorned with three stars, which drew comparisons to Dragon Ball Z among fans.
Some fans couldn’t help but reminisce about past eras, particularly recalling Butch Jones’ “five-star hearts” comment. Criticism also centered around the new logo, with certain supporters voicing their disappointment.
Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Tennessee will see Nico Iamaleava take over at quarterback. A highly touted recruit from the 2023 class, Iamaleava is set to lead alongside key returnees such as edge rusher James Pearce and offensive talents Dylan Sampson, Bru McCoy, and Squirrel White. The Volunteers will kick off their season against the Chattanooga Mocs on August 31.
