JUST IN: Former West Virginia Offensive Line Coach Matt Moore Stuns the College Football World with Bold Move to Rival Program.

Matt Moore, the former offensive line coach at West Virginia, has landed a new role with a fierce rival. After spending six seasons under ex-head coach Neal Brown, Moore is heading to Virginia Tech to take over as the Hokies’ offensive line coach.

The announcement came on Monday, with Virginia Tech welcoming Moore to Blacksburg. The Hokies’ football team shared the news with a tweet, including a message: “Welcome Home our new Offensive Line Coach Matt Moore 🦃.”

During his tenure at West Virginia, Moore coached three current NFL offensive linemen, including first-round pick Zach Frazier in 2024 and fifth-round selection Colton McKivitz in 2020. With Wyatt Milum projected as a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and several other WVU linemen declaring for the upcoming draft, Moore’s legacy of developing NFL talent is expected to grow.

Under Moore’s guidance, West Virginia’s rushing offense was consistently one of the best in the power conferences, ranking in the Top 10 in both 2023 and 2024. The Mountaineers averaged over 210 rushing yards per game during that stretch.

With 17 years of coaching experience at the Division 1 level and 10 years at the power conference tier, Moore brings a wealth of expertise to Virginia Tech’s offensive line.
