Following their Sunday victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Las Vegas Raiders lost their grip on the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s NFL Draft.
That coveted pick now belongs to the New York Giants, who stand as the league’s only two-win team with a 2-13 record, while the Raiders improved to 3-12.
If the Giants lose their remaining games, they’ll secure the No. 1 pick for just the third time in franchise history, with previous top selections in 1951 and 1965. This would give them the chance to select their next quarterback, potentially choosing between Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward, or another top prospect.
After the Raiders’ narrow 19-14 win over the Jaguars, head coach Antonio Pierce responded to fans frustrated by the team’s likely forfeiture of the draft’s top spot. “Talk to [general manager] Tom Telesco,” Pierce said, as reported by Vegas Sports Today.
Meanwhile, the Giants hit a grim milestone with their 10th consecutive loss—the worst streak in the franchise’s 100-year history—after a crushing 34-7 defeat by the Atlanta Falcons.
The Giants will close their season with games against the Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles, which will determine their final draft position.
