Former Alabama Defensive Lineman Transfers to Colorado
Former Alabama Crimson Tide defensive lineman Jehiem Oatis has found a new team. Oatis officially announced on social media that he is transferring to Colorado, as first reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Oatis appeared in four games for Alabama this season before leaving the team to preserve his redshirt eligibility. Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer addressed the departure at the time, stating, “There are many factors involved, including health and life decisions. I care about these players, and Jehiem made his choice for personal reasons.”
During his three seasons at Alabama, Oatis dealt with injuries, missing spring football after the 2023 season. In 2023, he played in 13 games, starting three, following a freshman year where he earned All-SEC Freshman honors. In 2024, he recorded two tackles, one quarterback hurry, and a pass breakup in the four games he played.
A native of Mississippi, Oatis was a four-star recruit in Alabama’s 2022 class. He retained the same ranking as a transfer, per 247Sports.
Colorado, led by head coach Deion Sanders, finished the 2024 regular season with a 9-3 record. Star players like Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and quarterback Shedeur Sanders contributed to the team’s success, culminating in a spot in the Frisco Bowl.
Meanwhile, Alabama will wrap up its season in the ReliaQuest Bowl on December 31. The NCAA transfer portal remains open for undergraduate players until December 28.
