Stars Sign Matěj Blümel and Emilio Pettersen to One-Year, Two-Way Contracts
Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced that the team has signed forwards Matěj Blümel and Emilio Pettersen to one-year, two-way contracts starting in the 2024-25 season.
During the 2023-24 AHL regular season, Blümel was a standout player, finishing second in points with 61 in 71 games. He led the Texas Stars in goals (31) and was second in points (31-31—62) across 72 regular-season games. Blümel set career highs in goals, assists (31), and points, finishing fifth in the league for goals, tied for fifth in power-play goals (11), and 10th in overall points. In the Calder Cup Playoffs, he led the team in goals (5) and was second in points (5-4—9) over seven games.
Blümel represented the Central Division at the 2024 AHL All-Star Classic, marking his first appearance at the event. The 24-year-old from Tabor, Czechia, has totaled 106 points (50-56—106) in 130 regular-season AHL games and 10 points (5-5—10) in 13 Calder Cup Playoff games, all with Texas. Drafted by Edmonton in the fourth round (100th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft, Blümel signed with Dallas on June 6, 2022, and has scored one goal in six NHL games.
Pettersen, also 24, divided the 2023-24 AHL season between the Calgary Wranglers and the Texas Stars, recording 30 points (7-23—30) in 54 games. Acquired by Dallas via trade on March 7, Pettersen contributed eight points (4-4—8) in 12 regular-season games with Texas and five points (2-3—5) in seven Calder Cup Playoff games, tying for fourth in goals and sixth in points during the postseason.
The 5-foot-11, 180-pound forward has played 215 career AHL games with Texas and the Stockton/Calgary franchise, accumulating 122 points (49-73—122). Drafted by Calgary in the sixth round (167th overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft, Pettersen has also posted 10 points (4-6—10) in 23 Calder Cup Playoff games.
