JUST IN: Chicago Bulls Hall of Famer Shares Touching Message After Making Historic NBA Achievement.

This season marks the 21st anniversary of Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen’s second and final stint with the Chicago Bulls. In an exciting twist to start the 2024-25 season, Pippen’s legacy continued to grow in NBA history.

This time, the historic moment was courtesy of his son, Scotty Pippen Jr. The young guard recorded an impressive triple-double — 11 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds — during his first start with the Memphis Grizzlies, leading them to a victory over the Washington Wizards on November 8. With this achievement, the Pippens became the first father-son duo to ever record a triple-double in NBA history.

“Proud to share this moment with my son,” Scottie Pippen wrote in a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter) on November 9, along with a photo of the father and son embracing on the court in celebration.

Scotty Pippen Jr. has been showing strong performances this season, averaging 11.6 points, 6.9 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game through 10 contests in 2024-25. Despite going undrafted after his time at Vanderbilt, he made his NBA debut with the Los Angeles Lakers during the 2022-23 season.

Scottie Pippen, a six-time NBA champion, 10-time All-Defensive Team member, and member of the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team, has witnessed many remarkable feats throughout his career and expressed admiration for other historic father-son achievements in the league. One such instance was when LeBron James, a longtime NBA star, was joined by his son Bronny James in the league.

Pippen shared his thoughts with Front Office Sports’ Dan Roberts during an interview at the “Real-World Asset Summit” in October, calling LeBron and Bronny’s journey a great accomplishment. “It’s a great feat that LeBron is still playing after 22 years. It’s also amazing that LeBron was able to see his son enter the league,” said Pippen. “It’s a great moment for history.”

Reflecting on his own experiences, Pippen noted that his son Scotty was just three years old when he played his final NBA game. He joked that he would have liked to play alongside Scotty “just for the salaries,” highlighting how much the financial aspect of the game has grown.

“The game has grown so much. I’ve been out of the game for nearly 20 years, and seeing the increase in salaries has been incredible,” he said. “It’s all about revenue sharing, and that shows just how much the game has expanded globally, especially with the influx of international players. The game’s growth has allowed players to benefit with healthier wallets.”
