JUST IN: Blue Jays Enlist Former Reds Manager David Bell for Prominent Front-Office Appointment

The Toronto Blue Jays have appointed former Cincinnati Reds manager David Bell as their new vice-president of baseball operations and assistant general manager, the team announced on Friday.

In his new role, Bell will be responsible for overseeing player development as well as the physical and mental performance departments. Additionally, he will play a key role in strategic planning, player evaluations, and acquisitions. Bell will report directly to Ross Atkins, the Blue Jays’ executive vice president of baseball operations and general manager.

Bell, who managed the Reds for the past six seasons, brings extensive experience to the position. Prior to his managerial role, he spent ten years in various coaching and player development positions with the Reds, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, and San Francisco Giants. Bell also enjoyed a 17-year professional playing career as an infielder with six organizations, including a stint with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons in 1995.
