Connor McDavid Reaches 1000 NHL Points, Celebrated by Wife
Connor McDavid has long been on the path to greatness in the NHL, and on Thursday night, the Edmonton Oilers star added another milestone to his resume by reaching 1,000 career points. McDavid hit the milestone during a game against the Nashville Predators at Rogers Place in Edmonton, scoring in the second period to tie the game 1-1. He entered the game with 999 points and quickly found the back of the net to the delight of fans. Leon Draisaitl and Darnell Nurse were credited with assists on McDavid’s milestone goal.
McDavid, 27, had been on a hot streak leading up to this moment, with two goals and five assists in his previous two games. Fans knew it was only a matter of time before the three-time Hart Memorial Trophy winner would hit the 1,000-point mark, and he did so in spectacular fashion. Following his goal, McDavid’s wife, Lauren Kyle, took to Instagram to celebrate the achievement, sharing her pride in a post that read, “1000!!!!!! AH SO proud of you!!!” along with a photo of McDavid celebrating with his teammates.
McDavid’s night was made even better when he assisted on Darnell Nurse’s overtime game-winning goal, securing a 3-2 victory for the Oilers. So far in the 2024-25 season, McDavid has accumulated six goals and 13 assists for a total of 19 points in 14 games. The Oilers, now on a three-game winning streak, will face the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday at Scotiabank Arena.
