JUST IN: New York Jets Signs $190 Million Bridge Quarterback as Aaron Rodgers Replacement in a Blockbuster Deal…

The New York Jets are being urged to consider a quarterback change, potentially replacing Aaron Rodgers with another high-profile player. Rodgers, currently under contract with the Jets until 2025, hinted on Wednesday that he may want to continue playing through that year. However, ESPN’s Rich Cimini reported that his salary is not guaranteed, and his cap hit would be $23.5 million. If he returns in 2025, the Jets would owe him a $35 million option bonus. Despite Rodgers playing all games this season, the Jets are struggling with a 3-7 record as they approach Week 11. It’s uncertain whether the team plans to stick with the Super Bowl-winning quarterback, especially given the need for a new head coach after Robert Saleh was fired following Week 5.

New York radio personality Brandon Tierney shared his thoughts on WFAN’s *The Brandon Tierney and Sam Licata Show*, suggesting that the Jets should draft a new quarterback while signing Daniel Jones, should the Giants release him. According to Tierney, Jones could serve as a temporary solution until the rookie quarterback is ready to step in. “It sounds crazy, but Daniel Jones wasn’t drafted by the Jets and wouldn’t be a financial burden for them,” Tierney said, as reported by Audacy. He believes Jones could take the initial hits while the rookie develops. Tierney also argued that rebuilding through a draft pick would be a quicker route to a Super Bowl than relying on Rodgers.

Meanwhile, the Giants are facing their own uncertainty regarding Jones’ future. Despite being the starter all season, head coach Brian Daboll indicated the team would evaluate their quarterback options during their bye week. Jones, who signed a four-year, $160 million deal in the 2023 offseason (with an opt-out after 2024), has thrown for 2,070 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions this season. The Giants currently hold a 2-8 record.
