The Denver Broncos, still in the AFC playoff hunt despite a heavy loss to the Ravens, had sparked trade rumors involving outside linebacker Baron Browning. Those speculations proved accurate.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL.com, Denver is trading Browning to the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals will inherit the remainder of Browning’s rookie contract, which concludes at the end of this season. Browning, who had been relegated to a backup role under former Cardinals defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, will now try to bolster Arizona’s playoff aspirations.
The Cardinals, also holding a 5-4 record, recently delivered an impressive defensive display against the Bears, sacking Caleb Williams six times. However, Arizona entered the season with a thin group of edge rushers. They suffered significant setbacks with BJ Ojulari’s season-ending injury in August and Dennis Gardeck’s ACL tear in October, which further weakened their outside linebacker corps.
