JUST In: Lions and Raiders Reaches Mutual Agrees for a Swap Involving 3-Time Pro Bowler Winner as NFL Trade Deadline 2024 Approaches…

A Sunday report suggests the Detroit Lions are nearing a deal to acquire Za’Darius Smith from the Cleveland Browns. The Lions have been searching for help at edge rusher after major injuries sidelined Aidan Hutchinson and Marcus Davenport. Smith has been linked to Detroit for some time, making him a logical fit.

While Smith appears to be the primary target, the Lions have considered other options. According to Dave Birkett of the *Detroit Free Press*, Detroit showed interest in the Raiders’ Maxx Crosby, though it was quickly made clear that he is unavailable. Raiders owner Mark Davis has repeatedly stated that Crosby, a three-time Pro Bowler, is off-limits for trades, not only this season but also beyond.

In case the Smith deal doesn’t go through, the Lions may explore other names like Jadeveon Clowney, Chase Young, or Arden Key of the Tennessee Titans, who has recently emerged as a potential target. However, if Detroit finalizes the trade for Smith, those options may no longer be necessary. The Lions’ pursuit of top-tier talent, including inquiring about Crosby, signals their strong intent to make another deep playoff run in 2024.
