The Carolina Hurricanes have continued to bolster their roster in free agency by signing forward Jack Roslovic to a one-year, $2.8 million contract.
This signing marks the sixth addition to the team this week under the leadership of new general manager Eric Tulsky, who took over from Don Waddell.
Roslovic, 27, ended last season with the New York Rangers and has accumulated 234 points in 481 games with the Rangers, Winnipeg Jets, and Columbus Blue Jackets.
“Jack is a dynamic player who has consistently contributed offensively throughout his career,” Tulsky said. “His addition as a right-handed playmaker with speed and skill will enhance our forward group.”
In addition to Roslovic, the Hurricanes have signed forwards William Carrier, Tyson Jost, and Eric Robinson, along with defensemen Sean Walker and Shayne Gostisbehere. These moves aim to secure a playoff spot for the seventh consecutive year under coach Rod Brind’Amour.
Next season presents new challenges due to the loss of several key players in free agency, including Jake Guentzel (to Tampa Bay), Teuvo Teravainen (to Chicago), Brett Pesce and Stefan Noesen (to New Jersey), and Brady Skjei (to Nashville). There is also uncertainty regarding restricted free agent Martin Necas, whose father has indicated a desire for a trade to find a larger role for his son. Necas, 25, was tied for third in team scoring last season.
Meanwhile, in the Western Conference, the San Jose Sharks have signed two restricted free agent forwards to two-year contracts. Carl Grundstrom, acquired from the Los Angeles Kings, received a $3.6 million deal, and Ty Dellandrea, who joined from the Dallas Stars, secured a $2.6 million contract. General manager Mike Grier praised Grundstrom’s consistent competitiveness and his ability to contribute both offensively and defensively.
