The Chicago Bears have bolstered their pass rush ahead of the NFL’s 2023 trade deadline by trading a second-round pick to acquire defensive end Montez Sweat from the Washington Commanders.
Now, just a year later, general manager Ryan Poles is looking to make another significant move. According to Erik Lambert of Sportsmockery, two players have piqued Poles’ interest as the November 5 trade deadline approaches: Myles Garrett and Maxx Crosby.
Garrett, a defensive end for the Cleveland Browns, is the current Defensive Player of the Year, boasting 101 tackles for loss and 92.5 sacks in 107 regular-season games. However, with the Browns sitting at 1-6 and starting to trade away key players—such as wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills—the team’s future appears uncertain.
It remains to be seen whether Cleveland would be willing to part with Garrett, a key asset for the franchise. If the Bears aim to acquire him, it would likely require at least one first-round pick and additional draft assets, possibly even a second first-round pick.
For the Bears, this investment might be worthwhile, as they possess multiple valuable picks in the coming years. Adding the 28-year-old star edge rusher could transform a good defense into a formidable one.
Evan Massey of Sports Illustrated commented that acquiring Garrett would significantly enhance the Bears’ competitiveness in the NFC, strengthening their pass rush and elevating the overall defense. With an offense that shows promise, Garrett’s addition could position Chicago as a formidable team for the foreseeable future.
Currently, Garrett is under a $125 million contract that extends through the 2026 season.
