The Boston Bruins have been struggling against the Florida Panthers, and now one of their players is facing possible repercussions after an accidental slash.
Despite the threat of Hurricane Milton potentially causing a delay, the Bruins proceeded with their season opener against the Panthers. Unfortunately for them, it hasn’t gone well. Early in the game, Mark Kaselic and AJ Greer exchanged punches, and things went downhill from there for Boston.
As the game neared its end, the Bruins were trailing 6-2, and an incident involving former Anaheim Ducks player Max Jones added to their troubles. With frustration setting in due to the Panthers’ aggressive play, Jones tried to slash Florida’s Evan Rodrigues but instead accidentally hit the official’s hand. If the NHL’s Department of Player Safety maintains consistency, they will likely review this incident.
Later in the game, Jones received a penalty for roughing, with the Bruins still down 6-2. The defending Stanley Cup Champions, the Panthers, dominated throughout the night, making a strong statement. The consequences for Jones’s actions are still uncertain, but even though the slash was unintentional, he could face a fine or possibly a suspension.
