Tennessee Football Lands Two Players on First Team All-American List
The Tennessee Volunteers football program has secured two spots on the preseason All-American lists, highlighting the talent they have on both sides of the ball. This season, the Volunteers will feature standout players on the Walter Camp Football All-American list for both their offensive and defensive units.
Center Cooper Mays and edge rusher James Pearce Jr. have been named to the first team All-American list. With Nico Iamaleava starting as quarterback this season, having top players like Mays and Pearce Jr. provides crucial support for the Volunteers.
According to ESPN’s Matt Miller, Pearce Jr. is projected to go fourth overall in the latest first-round NFL mock draft, potentially joining the Tennessee Titans. Miller describes Pearce as an exceptional prospect with impressive quickness, noting his 9.5 sacks and a notable 52-yard pick-six last season. Pearce would be a significant addition to the Titans’ defense alongside Harold Landry III.
Under head coach Josh Heupel, the Tennessee Volunteers aim to build on last season’s success. Key players like Mays and Pearce Jr. living up to their preseason expectations will be vital for Tennessee’s hopes of becoming a playoff contender this year.
