The Cincinnati Bengals defense, already struggling, has suffered another setback. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, cornerback Dax Hill has sustained a season-ending injury.
“Sources say starting CB Dax Hill is feared to have torn his ACL and would be out for the season,” Rapoport reported on X (formerly known as Twitter). “Hill had found his stride in a move from safety. Now will refocus on recovery and the 2025 season.”
Hill sustained the injury during the first quarter of Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens and was unable to return.
The 24-year-old cornerback had been one of the few bright spots on a Bengals defense that has struggled this season. Before his injury, Hill had earned a 68.2 overall rating, an 81.2 pass rush grade, and a 68.0 coverage grade from Pro Football Focus.
The Bengals’ defense immediately felt Hill’s absence, as Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson put on an impressive performance, throwing for 348 yards and four touchdowns without any interceptions. The Bengals were also missing cornerback Mike Hilton in that game, which further weakened their secondary.
Hill, who signed a four-year, $11.66 million contract with Cincinnati in 2022, recorded two passes defended, 25 total tackles, a tackle for loss, and a sack in five games this season. He initially played safety for the Bengals before transitioning to cornerback.
Fans expressed their disappointment on social media following Hill’s injury. One fan wrote, “Always hate to see injuries regardless of team. Hoping he heals up and makes a full recovery next season.” Another commented, “Free eats already and now they suffer another hit on defense. Hoping for a speedy recovery for him.”
