Revised Dolphins Injury Report for Week 5 Brings Optimism Following a String of Unfortunate Setbacks
Despite losing Jaelan Phillips for the season, the Miami Dolphins are seeing improvements in their injury report ahead of Week 5.
When Phillips got hurt during a play against the Tennessee Titans, it was clear something was wrong, especially when he threw his helmet in frustration on the sidelines. The Dolphins confirmed on Wednesday that Phillips would be out for the year due to a knee injury. But his absence is just one of several injury concerns the team is facing.
Beyond the ongoing quarterback discussions and Tua Tagovailoa’s return timeline, the Dolphins are dealing with multiple injuries. However, the positive news is that five players listed on the injury report practiced fully on Thursday.
Odell Beckham Jr. logged another full practice session ahead of Week 5. Aside from Phillips, Jordan Poyer (shin injury) was the only player who didn’t practice. Terron Armstead and Kendall Fuller, both in concussion protocol, were upgraded to full participation on Thursday. David Long Jr. and Duke Riley, dealing with hamstring injuries, practiced in full, while Malik Washington remained limited with a quad issue.
Beckham, who participated in a walkthrough on Wednesday, practiced fully again on Thursday, suggesting he’s ready to make his Dolphins debut.
The team is also monitoring Jeff Wilson Jr., who injured his knee during warm-ups last Monday. Running back Raheem Mostert, who’s missed the past three games with a chest injury, remains limited, but the Dolphins hope he can return for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots.
At quarterback, Skylar Thompson is still limited in practice, but there’s no doubt about the starting role, as coach Mike McDaniel confirmed that Tyler Huntley will start this week against the Patriots.
