Breaking News: A San Francisco 49ers Linebacker is Undergoing Daily Evaluations for an Ankle Injury.

49ers linebacker Fred Warner avoided a major ankle injury during Sunday’s win over the Patriots.

Warner exited the game before halftime, and tests on Monday confirmed that his absence won’t be long-term.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Warner is listed as day-to-day as the team gears up for their Week Five matchup against the Cardinals.

Shanahan, speaking to 49ersWebzone.com, shared, “When it’s ‘day-to-day,’ and you didn’t know that the night before, it’s always a relief. If it had been a high-ankle sprain, we’d know it would take more time. He’s hurting today, but with the reports saying ‘day-to-day,’ he’s got a shot at healing this week.”

Several other 49ers players were injured in the win, including wide receivers Chris Conley and Jacob Cowing, defensive tackle Jordan Elliott, fullback Kyle Juszczyk, and tight end George Kittle, all of whom are also considered day-to-day.

This news brings some optimism to a team that has been plagued with injuries early in the season.
