The Penguins and Red Wings game has been postponed due to Pittsburgh’s travel complications. Initially, it was announced that the game, scheduled for Saturday evening, would be delayed from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. However, a second update confirmed the game would not take place at all.
The Penguins explained that their plane encountered mechanical problems, preventing them from reaching Detroit on time. Earlier in the day, the team had practiced at their facility near Pittsburgh.
It’s typical for NHL teams to travel on the same day during the preseason, unlike the regular season where more time is allocated for travel.
Although no rescheduled date has been announced, the Red Wings indicated the game is postponed rather than canceled. Meanwhile, a different group of Penguins players was already en route to Sudbury for a Sunday game, as seen on the team’s social media.
Unfortunately, due to these travel issues, fans were left without a chance to watch the Penguins in action tonight—just another event in the unpredictable preseason.
