Breaking News: Milwaukee Brewers Significant Player Sustains Alarming Injury Days Prior to the 2024 Postseason.
The Milwaukee Brewers are set to face the New York Mets this weekend in their final series of the 2024 regular season. This matchup could serve as a preview for the playoffs, as both teams might meet in the Wild Card Series, though the Brewers are currently more likely to play against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Unfortunately, during Friday’s game, outfielder Sal Frelick sustained an injury that could affect his postseason participation.
Frelick was hurt while sprinting at full speed towards the right field wall to catch a fly ball. He collided with the wall, hitting the chain-link fence instead of the padded section. He was down for a while but managed to walk off the field with some difficulty and needed assistance from teammates to reach the dugout and clubhouse.
Frelick will undergo further examinations on his hip. After leaving the game, he had x-rays taken, but the results were inconclusive. An MRI is scheduled for Saturday, September 28, at 10:00 AM.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy and pitcher Frankie Montas shared their thoughts on Frelick’s condition. Murphy expressed concern for Frelick, noting, “I feel horrible for the young man, first and foremost, and it hurts our team because he’s a Gold Glove outfielder and a crucial player. It would be a significant loss if he can’t play, which seems likely at this point.”
In contrast, Montas mentioned that after the game, he checked on Frelick and found him to be encouraged and optimistic about his recovery.
Stay tuned to Wisconsin Sports Heroics for updates on Sal Frelick as more information becomes available. If he’s unable to play, Garrett Mitchell and Blake Perkins will likely see increased playing time regardless of the pitching matchups.
