Dodgers pitcher Tony Gonsolin made his second rehab start for Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he allowed two runs over 2⅔ innings against Tacoma.
Despite frequently pitching with runners on base, Gonsolin managed to escape major damage, striking out three and walking one in his 50-pitch outing.
Most of the damage came with two outs, including a run in the first inning and another in the third, but he also stranded a runner after a two-out triple in the second inning.
This was Gonsolin’s second rehab appearance after recovering from Tommy John surgery, with his first outing last Tuesday where he threw 32 pitches over two scoreless innings. He could have one more rehab start scheduled for next week before returning to the Dodgers.
Player of the Day:
James Outman shined with two two-run home runs, adding to his hot streak of three homers in the last three games. Outman also contributed with an RBI single and stole a base in the seventh inning, racking up five RBIs on the day.
Triple-A Oklahoma City:
Outman’s performance helped Oklahoma City defeat the Tacoma Rainiers. Other contributions came from Alex Freeland, Diego Cartaya, and Austin Gauthier, who each doubled and combined for four runs from the lower part of the lineup.
After Gonsolin, Ben Casparius pitched three scoreless innings but ran into trouble in the eighth, allowing four straight batters to reach base and giving up two runs. Left-hander Jack Dreyer came in to strand the tying runs.
Joe Kelly, likely completing his rehab assignment, retired all three batters he faced, including two strikeouts. Kelly will likely rejoin the Dodgers during their series in Miami. Connor Brogdon, nearing the end of his 30-day rehab assignment, secured the save with a scoreless ninth inning. He’s allowed only one run over 10 innings in 10 appearances during his rehab, striking out 14 while walking three.
Double-A Tulsa:
Tulsa ended its season with a 4-2 loss to the Wichita Wind Surge. Their offense struggled over the final weeks, scoring three or fewer runs in 24 of their last 40 games, finishing the season with a 63-74 record.
Despite the loss, Yeiner Fernandez, Griffin Lockwood-Powell, and Brendon Davis all had two-hit games, each recording a double and single, while Davis added a stolen base. Orlando Ortiz-Mayr pitched a quality start, allowing three runs over six innings. Taylor Young, who didn’t steal a base on Sunday, finished the season leading the Texas League with 46 steals in 56 attempts.
Transactions:
Right-hander Aidan Foeller was promoted to Double-A Tulsa after a brief professional debut in Low-A Rancho Cucamonga. He, along with Seamus Barrett and Evan Shaw, didn’t pitch after their promotions this weekend.
