Canadian Lotto Max Hits Record $80 Million Jackpot for Tuesday…

A record-setting Lotto Max jackpot of $80 million is up for grabs on Tuesday, Sept. 17, making it the largest lottery prize ever offered in Canada.

In addition to the $80 million jackpot, players will have the chance to win one of 18 Maxmillions prizes, each valued at $1 million. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation reports that Lotto Max, a national lottery game, has seen its jackpot cap increased by $10 million this month.

Since no one claimed the previous $75 million jackpot on Friday, Sept. 13, the prize has surged to a historic $80 million. This is a milestone never before reached in Canadian lottery history.

Here’s how the jackpot cap works: Once the Lotto Max jackpot hits its cap of $80 million, it remains at that level for every draw until someone wins. During this time, the number of Maxmillions prizes, each worth $1 million, will increase. When the jackpot is eventually won, it resets to $10 million, with any unclaimed Maxmillions prizes added to the next jackpot.

The record for the total value of top prizes in a single Lotto Max draw stands at $140 million, which occurred when the main jackpot was $70 million and there were 70 Maxmillions prizes.

Recent Lotto Max results from Friday show that, although the $75 million jackpot went unclaimed, several significant prizes were won across Ontario. These included:

– A $1 million Maxmillions ticket sold in Ottawa
– Two secondary prize tickets worth $285,447.40 each, sold in Milton and Northumberland County
– Four Encore tickets, each worth $100,000, sold in the Timiskaming-Cochrane area, Simcoe County, London, and Unionville

Additionally, the Lotto Max Dream Big Event, running from Sept. 5 to Oct. 19, offers players extra chances to win. There are 30 weekly $10,000 prizes and one grand prize of $1 million available during this period.
