Haaland’s Participation Against Brentford Uncertain Following Compassionate Leave…

Manchester City will make a late decision on whether Erling Haaland will play in their upcoming Premier League match against Brentford, following his compassionate leave. Haaland was given time off after the passing of his close friend, Ivar Eggja, whom he considered a father figure, affectionately calling him “uncle.”

Haaland trained with his teammates on Thursday, but manager Pep Guardiola emphasized that the striker’s availability will depend on his mental and physical state. During a press conference on Friday, Guardiola expressed sympathy, calling it a difficult time for Haaland and his family. He added, “It’s a tough moment for him… we’ll see tomorrow if he’s able to play.”

Haaland paid tribute to Eggja on Instagram, writing, “You are a legend, Ivar… words cannot describe how much you will be missed… we will see each other again. Rest in peace.”

Haaland has been in stellar form this season, scoring seven goals in three Premier League games, including back-to-back hat-tricks against Ipswich Town and West Ham.

Meanwhile, Guardiola confirmed that Rodri and Phil Foden are fit to play after training without issues.
