Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser, entering the final year of his contract, has received encouraging news regarding his health ahead of the 2024-25 season.
After dealing with a blood clot that ended his previous season early, Boeser has been cleared for contact as he enters training camp.
According to Noah Strang of ‘Daily Hive Vancouver’, Boeser confirmed on September 9 that while he’s no longer on blood thinners, his condition will still need monitoring throughout the season.
Boeser acknowledged he would need to take precautions, especially on flights, by using compression gear and other recovery tools.
Boeser’s health issue stemmed from a blocked shot during last season’s playoffs, which caused him to miss Vancouver’s Game 7 loss to the Edmonton Oilers in the second round. However, Boeser reported that the clotting problem didn’t majorly disrupt his offseason training, allowing him to stay in shape for the upcoming season.
As Boeser enters the final season of his three-year, $19.95 million contract, he confirmed that no extension talks have begun with the Canucks.
Despite his impressive performance last season—scoring 40 goals and recording 73 points—negotiations have yet to start. Boeser has expressed that he plans to let the situation unfold naturally as the season progresses. This aligns with earlier reports indicating that neither side had initiated talks over the summer.
