Utah HC made a significant move by acquiring the 24th overall pick from the Avalanche in exchange for their 38th overall pick, the 71st pick, and a second-round pick in 2025. With their newly acquired selection, Utah HC drafted forward Cole Beaudoin from the Barrie Colts. In his second full season in the OHL, Beaudoin posted impressive numbers with 28 goals and 34 assists, totaling 62 points in 67 games.
Steven Ellis, a prospect analyst for Daily Faceoff, highlighted Beaudoin’s athleticism, noting his standout performance at the NHL Scouting Combine and his physical dominance during the U-18s, where he excelled as a fourth-line center, contributing on penalty kills and disrupting play around the net.
Utah HC also bolstered their roster earlier in the draft by selecting center Tij Iginla from the WHL’s Kelowna Rockets. Iginla, a native of Lake Country, B.C., had a stellar season with 47 goals and 37 assists, totaling 84 points in 64 regular-season games. He continued his strong play into the playoffs, recording nine goals and six assists for 15 points in 11 games, tying for the team lead in scoring despite the Rockets’ second-round exit to the Prince George Cougars.
