Bruins Sign Defenseman Ian Mitchell to One-Year, Two-Way Contract Extension
The Boston Bruins have announced the signing of defenseman Ian Mitchell to a one-year contract extension, as per their press release on Sunday. This two-way contract has a cap hit of $775,000 and will last through the 2024-25 season.
Mitchell, 25, has played 13 games for the Bruins, registering two assists during the 2023-24 season. Before joining Boston, he appeared in 82 games with the Chicago Blackhawks, amassing a total of four goals and 14 assists between both teams.
Standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 192 pounds, Mitchell also played 42 games for the AHL’s Providence Bruins in the 2023-24 season, where he scored six goals and contributed 18 assists.
Looking ahead, the Bruins are set to make their first selection on the second day of the 2024 NHL Draft, starting in the fourth round.
