Legia Warszawa Fall to Sparta Prague in European Clash…

Warsaw, Poland – Legia Warszawa’s European campaign took another hit on Thursday night as they suffered a narrow 0–1 defeat to Sparta Prague at Łazienkowska Stadium, marking their third loss in four UEFA Conference League fixtures this season.

Despite a spirited start, Legia failed to capitalize on their early momentum. Wojciech Urbański and Ermal Krasniqi both tested Sparta’s goalkeeper Peter Vindahl, but the Danish shot-stopper stood firm, producing a string of crucial saves that kept the visitors in control.

The decisive moment came midway through the second half when Sparta broke through Legia’s defense to snatch the lead. From that point, the Polish side struggled to regain composure, their attacks increasingly frustrated by Vindahl’s commanding presence between the posts.

Manager’s Reaction

Interim coach Inaki Astiz admitted disappointment after the final whistle:

“We created chances, but lacked the finishing touch. The team needs confidence, and one positive result could change our momentum.”

European Struggles Continue

The loss leaves Legia in a precarious position in the group stage, with qualification hopes fading fast. Their inability to convert opportunities has become a recurring theme, raising concerns ahead of the decisive fixtures in December.

What’s Next

Legia return to domestic action on December 1 against Motor Lublin, before facing Piast Gliwice and Armenian side FC Noah later in the month. With pressure mounting, the club’s leadership is reportedly accelerating negotiations with Marek Papszun, hoping the Raków Częstochowa coach can provide a mid-season turnaround.
