Sadler Reflects on Strong Start and Injury Updates
Following Walsall’s narrow 1–0 win over Chesterfield—secured by a goal from Daniel Kanu—Head Coach Mat Sadler shared his thoughts on the team’s early momentum and provided clarity on the absences of Jamie Jellis and Priestley Farquharson.
Sadler explained that Jellis is dealing with minor groin tightness, and the staff are being cautious to ensure he returns fully fit. As for Farquharson, a recent scan brought encouraging news. While his availability for the next match remains uncertain, Sadler is confident he’ll be ready soon after.
“We’ve got a strong squad with players eager to step in,” Sadler noted, emphasizing the depth and hunger within the team.
He also praised Daniel Kanu’s performance, highlighting his physicality and finishing ability. Kanu’s pace and power, especially when paired with teammates like Aaron, Jamma, or Albert, make him a formidable attacking option.
Despite the promising start to the season, Sadler remains grounded:
“We’ve made a solid start, but we’re aiming higher. Nothing is guaranteed—we just have to keep pushing.”
