Ryan Williams Listed as Questionable Ahead of Alabama’s Clash with Louisiana-Monroe
Tuscaloosa, AL — September 6, 2025
Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams has officially been listed as questionable for Saturday’s home opener against Louisiana-Monroe, following a concussion sustained during last week’s 31–17 loss to Florida State.
Williams, a sophomore standout who led the Crimson Tide in receiving yards last season, was injured late in the fourth quarter after absorbing a heavy hit over the middle. He was immediately removed from the game and entered concussion protocol, where he has remained throughout the week.
Head coach Kalen DeBoer addressed Williams’ condition during his midweek press conference, stating the receiver is “coming along nicely” and remains “day-to-day”. Practice footage released Tuesday showed Williams in a black non-contact jersey, suggesting he’s back on the field but not yet cleared for full participation.
Despite a quiet performance against Florida State—five catches for 30 yards and three drops—Williams remains a critical piece of Alabama’s offensive scheme. His absence could open the door for younger receivers like true freshman Rico Scott, who impressed with a touchdown grab in limited action last week.
With Alabama heavily favored against Louisiana-Monroe, the coaching staff may opt to rest Williams to ensure full recovery ahead of next week’s high-stakes matchup against Wisconsin. “He’s too vital for Alabama,” one report noted, “and jeopardizing his long-term goals would not make sense”.
Kickoff is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. CT on SEC Network. Whether Williams suits up or not, all eyes will be on how Alabama rebounds from its season-opening stumble.
