Gladbach Falter in Stuttgart: Seoane Laments Missed Opportunities
Stuttgart, August 30 — Borussia Mönchengladbach manager Gerardo Seoane offered a blunt assessment following his side’s narrow 1–0 defeat to VfB Stuttgart on Friday night, admitting, “We didn’t take our chances.”
The match, played at the MHPArena, saw Gladbach struggle to convert possession into goals, despite several promising attacking sequences. Stuttgart’s Enzo Millot netted the decisive goal in the 67th minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse that left Seoane visibly frustrated on the touchline.
“We had control in phases, but lacked precision in the final third,” Seoane said during the post-match press conference. “There were moments where we could’ve shifted the momentum, but we didn’t take our chances.”
The loss marks Gladbach’s second consecutive defeat in the Bundesliga, raising questions about the team’s early-season form and attacking efficiency. New signing Shuto Machino, who made his debut off the bench, showed flashes of promise but couldn’t alter the outcome.
With several players now heading off for international duty, Seoane emphasized the need for reflection and regrouping ahead of their next fixture against Werder Bremen.
“We’ll use the break to reset,” he added. “There’s quality in this squad—we just need to show it.”
