Incoming Talent: Club Brugge Close to Signing Hugo Camberos from Chivas
Bruges, Belgium — August 14, 2025
Club Brugge KV is on the verge of securing one of Mexico’s brightest young talents, as 18-year-old winger Hugo Camberos prepares to make the leap from Liga MX side Chivas to the Belgian Pro League. Sources close to the negotiations confirm that the deal is expected to be finalized for a fee of approximately $6 million, with Chivas retaining a percentage of any future sale.
The transfer marks a significant coup for Brugge, who reportedly beat out Dutch giants Feyenoord in the race for Camberos’ signature. The teenager has drawn attention across Europe for his explosive pace, technical flair, and a maturity that belies his age.
“Hugo is a player who can change games with a single touch,” said a scout familiar with his development. “He’s fearless on the ball, and his decision-making in the final third is already at a professional level.”
Camberos has been a standout performer in Chivas’ youth setup and recently made his senior debut, showcasing his ability to operate on either wing and stretch defenses with his acceleration. Brugge sees him as a long-term investment, potentially following in the footsteps of past breakout stars who used the club as a springboard to Europe’s elite leagues.
If finalized, the move would continue Brugge’s strategy of targeting high-upside talent from outside Europe, blending youth with experience as they aim to return to the UEFA Champions League group stage.
Camberos is expected to arrive in Belgium later this week for medical tests and contract signing.
