Pacers Confirm Star Guard Tyrese Haliburton to Miss Entire 2025–26 Season…
The Indiana Pacers have confirmed that All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton will miss the entire 2025–26 NBA season after undergoing successful surgery to repair a torn right Achilles tendon.
The injury, sustained during Game 7 of the NBA Finals last month, immediately raised concerns across the organization and league. Following a detailed medical evaluation and consultation with specialists, the Pacers announced Monday that Haliburton’s rehabilitation timeline will keep him sidelined for the entirety of the upcoming season.
“While this is a difficult setback, Tyrese’s long-term health remains our top priority,” said Pacers President of Basketball Operations Kevin Pritchard. “He’s a cornerstone of our franchise, and we’ll support him fully through this recovery process.”
Haliburton, 25, was having a career-defining season before the injury, averaging 20.8 points, 10.2 assists, and 4.1 rebounds per game. He was the engine behind Indiana’s fast-paced, high-efficiency offense that propelled the team to its first Finals appearance in over two decades.
A Devastating Blow to a Rising Contender
The Pacers had emerged as one of the Eastern Conference’s brightest young squads, with Haliburton at the helm. His absence will significantly impact the team’s offensive tempo, leadership on the court, and playoff aspirations. The organization is now expected to adjust both strategically and structurally as the front office evaluates short- and long-term options at point guard.
While backup guards Andrew Nembhard and T.J. McConnell are poised to see increased roles, reports suggest the Pacers are actively exploring the free agent and trade markets for additional backcourt support.
Team Remains Optimistic
Despite the setback, the Pacers remain focused on growth and continuity.
“Tyrese is a fierce competitor and one of the hardest-working players I’ve coached,” said Head Coach Rick Carlisle. “We know he’ll attack this recovery with everything he’s got. Our team will rally together and continue building on what we started.”
Haliburton took to social media Monday afternoon, thanking fans for their outpouring of support:
“This isn’t how I wanted the season to go, but I’ll be back stronger. Appreciate all the love. See y’all soon.”
Looking Ahead
Indiana’s offseason has already seen a flurry of moves, including the acquisition of big man Jay Huff from the Memphis Grizzlies and the signing of former No. 2 pick James Wiseman. The team also added promising rookie Kam Jones in a draft rights trade with the San Antonio Spurs.
With Haliburton sidelined, player development, roster depth, and tactical flexibility will be central themes for Indiana throughout the 2025–26 campaign.
