Burkhardt: Papszun Will Need Time to Rebuild Fragmented Legia Squad
Legia Warszawa’s newly appointed head coach Marek Papszun has received a clear message from within the club’s own history: the rebuilding process will not be quick. Former Legia midfielder Tomasz Burkhardt believes the coach faces a significant challenge as he steps into a dressing room lacking cohesion and on‑field understanding.
Burkhardt, speaking about the club’s current crisis, stressed that Papszun inherits a team struggling with unity, chemistry, and collective confidence. According to him, these issues cannot be fixed overnight.
“Papszun will need time to rebuild the team,” Burkhardt said, emphasizing that the squad’s internal dynamics have deteriorated during the club’s prolonged slump. “There is a lack of unity and chemistry, and that’s the foundation of any successful side.”
Papszun arrives at Legia during one of the most turbulent periods in recent years, with the club sitting near the bottom of the Ekstraklasa table and enduring a historic winless streak. His appointment has been widely viewed as a long‑term project aimed at restoring structure, discipline, and identity.
Despite the challenges, Burkhardt expressed confidence that Papszun’s tactical clarity and leadership style could eventually stabilize the team—provided he is given the necessary time and support.
For now, Legia fans and club leadership appear aligned on one point: the rebuilding process has only just begun.
