Squad additions
Adelaide has named four players to its 24-player extended squad for Sunday’s Round Eight match against Richmond at Ikon Park. Running defenders Kiera Mueller and Brooke Smith, Irish recruit Kayleigh Cronin and on-baller Christina Leuzzi have been added.
Extended bench
Those four join Brooke Boileau, Amy Boyle Carr, Keeley Kustermann and Lily Tarlinton on the eight-player extended bench. The list will be cut to five when the final team is announced on Friday afternoon.
Omitted and unavailable players
Utility Hannah Ewings has been omitted from the side that beat Sydney by two points last Sunday. Three-time premiership captain Chelsea Randall will miss a third consecutive game while the club’s medical staff manage her concussion with an extra cautious approach, according to Senior Coach Matthew Clarke. Clarke said she remains in good care and will return only when fully ready.
Opposition and outlook
Adelaide seeks a fourth straight win against a Richmond side yet to register a victory. Clarke warned that Richmond’s ladder position belies the quality in their list, citing recent strong performances and key players such as Monique Conti and Ellie McKenzie. He described the trip to Melbourne as a challenging assignment and said Adelaide will need to be at its best.
